Seated on a quiet street in the Marylebone area of London, you might run into The Monocle Café. With two small tables outside you’re almost allured into the café. Larger inside than one would have guessed and coffee aroma gently caressing your face when you walk in, it feels like a place you want to sit in all day.
Standing inside of the café you will note several cups of water just when the coffee may become too much for you, a backroom with comfortable sofas and a large TV. If you happen to come on a day when the upstairs area is too crowded, The Monocle Café also offers a downstairs area which is just as relaxing.
The coffee menu specializes in affordable and chic options. A personal favorite was the cappuccino which featured a decorative flower design. The wall along the cash register showcased the food menu, many items that you couldn’t find in your local café. Some of the items on the menu include the chicken katsu sandwich, taco rice, Japanese breakfast, chicken curry, and a grilled cheese sandwich. One of the healthier selections is the Scandinavian breakfast. This dish comes with smoked salmon, toast, sliced hard boiled eggs, small prawns, cucumbers, and hovmästarsås-gravlaxss, a Swedish mustard, which compliments the seafood.
